Tasdeek can send product registrations, claims and warranty reminders to Klaviyo, for use in your Klaviyo flows and segments. Klaviyo works on every Tasdeek plan.
1. What Tasdeek sends
Tasdeek sends these events, which appear as metrics in Klaviyo:
| Metric | Sent when |
|---|---|
| Product Registered | A product is registered. |
| Warranty Claim Opened | A claim is opened. |
| Warranty Claim Updated | A claim's status changes, including when it is resolved. |
| Warranty Expiring | 30 days before a warranty ends. |
| Product Transferred | A product passes to a new owner. Ownership transfer needs the Growth plan. |
Each event goes to the profile of the customer's email: the registered owner's email, or for claims the email on the claim. Events without an email are not sent.
Every event carries serial, product_title, variant_title, sku, product_id, variant_id, order_name and tasdeek_event. Some add more:
- Product Registered:
registration_channel. - Claim events:
claim_number,issue_typeandclaim_status, plusprevious_statuswhen the status changes andresolution_typewhen the claim is resolved. - Warranty Expiring:
warranty_ends_atanddays_remaining. - Product Transferred:
warranty_transferredandwarranty_ends_at.
When a product is registered or transferred, Tasdeek also creates or updates the owner's Klaviyo profile with their first and last name, when given, and two profile properties:
tasdeek_last_serial: the serial number just registered.tasdeek_units_count: how many products this email has registered or owns in your store, not counting void ones.
Tasdeek sends events from the moment you connect. Registrations and claims from before that are not sent. If Klaviyo does not accept a request, Tasdeek tries again after 1 minute, 5 minutes, 30 minutes and 2 hours, then marks it as failed.
2. Try it on a test account first
Klaviyo has no sandbox. To try the connection without touching your real Klaviyo data, create a second, free Klaviyo account, convert it to a test account and connect that one first. When everything works, replace the key with one from your real account.
3. Create a private API key in Klaviyo
- In Klaviyo, open Settings, then API keys, and create a private API key.
- Give it the scopes Tasdeek needs:
events:writeandprofiles:write. If you will use a marketing list, also give itlists:writeandsubscriptions:write. - Copy the key. Klaviyo private API keys start with
pk_.
4. Connect Klaviyo in Tasdeek
- In Tasdeek, open Settings and click Klaviyo under Integrations. The Connect Klaviyo item on the Home checklist opens the same page.
- Paste the key into Private API key and click Save key.
- The page shows Connected and the last four characters of the key.
Tasdeek stores the key encrypted. When you save it, Tasdeek only checks that it looks like a Klaviyo private API key; whether Klaviyo accepts it shows with the first event (see step 6).
To use another key later, paste it into Replace private API key and click Save key.
5. Add customers to a marketing list
This part is optional. Customers who tick the marketing checkbox on the registration, claim or transfer forms can be added to a Klaviyo list.
- In Klaviyo, open the list. Its ID is in the page address and in the list's settings.
- On Tasdeek's Klaviyo page, enter it as List ID and click Save list.
- In Settings, Marketing consent, tick Show the marketing checkbox on storefront forms, check the Checkbox text and click Save.
When a customer ticks the box, Tasdeek records the time, the form and the text, subscribes the customer to email marketing in Shopify and adds them to the Klaviyo list with their consent time. The key needs the lists:write and subscriptions:write scopes for this.
6. Check that it works
- Register a test product with an email address you can read, as described in Getting started.
- On Tasdeek's Klaviyo page, look at Recent deliveries. A row for
unit.registeredappears. DELIVERED means Klaviyo accepted it; PENDING means Tasdeek is still trying. - In Klaviyo, open the profile for that email. It shows a Product Registered event and the properties
tasdeek_last_serialandtasdeek_units_count.
If the status is FAILED, the Last error column and a banner at the top of the page show what went wrong. Check that the key is valid and has the scopes listed above, then click Retry on the failed row.
7. Disconnect
- Open Settings, Klaviyo in Tasdeek.
- Click Disconnect Klaviyo.
Tasdeek deletes the stored key and stops sending events. What was already sent stays in Klaviyo. If you no longer need the key, delete it in Klaviyo as well.
